What This Review Is Looking
At:
Cost Vs. Features & Support, Ecommerce, Servers
and Connectivity, Customer Service.
General Impressions:
Pros:
- Good prices on ASP hosting
- Wide selection of hosting types
- Support for a wide variety of Windows programing
tools
- Provides design services
Cons:
- Windows-only shared hosting, no Unix/Linux plans
offered
- Limited e-commerce applications
- Slow setup times
Cost Vs. Features & Support:
Their prices are reasonable for a Windows environment.
Usually Windows servers are more expensive to
host on. Since they give you the option of going
with a $7.96 plan first, you can start slow and
work your way up. They do offer a money back guarantee,
and so if you decide to cancel you should be able
to get your money back. Based on that we recommend
taking the 20% off and paying for 1 year in advance.
The email accounts are a little low, but if you
pay $10 extra per month you can get unlimited
email accounts. If you are using ASP the X2
account is a real deal at just $15.96/mo. Their
domain name registration is also reasonable at
just $10/year.
Ecommerce:
Easycgi offers only osCommerce for carts. A solid
choice, but more options would be better, especially
one tairloed for the Windows enviroment in which
the servers operate. They do offer free
SSL on the Advanced plan and above.
Servers and Connectivity:
EasyCGI says that their servers are located in the
same building as their administrative offices. That
is a plus, although not all that necessary these
days. They have local backups as well as off-site
backups which is not that common but a real plus
if you want to be sure your site is always safe.
They have multiple T1 connections to the Internet.
We normally wouldn't recommend a compay with T1
connections, but considering their price for a Windows
environment, it's acceptable.
Customer Service:
They provide phone, chat, and ticket support.
Customer Service:
The EasyCGI site is nicely laid out and easy to
navigate. The support tutorials they have on
the site well done, but they really should have
a searchable database of questions and answers,
and they should have more of them. We don't
like getting answering machines, and that is
what we got when we tried calling EasyCGI. Then
we tried their live chat, and it said there
were 3 people in front of us and we would have
to wait. They seem to be understaffed, not sure.
EasyCGI is a low priced hosting company, so
I guess you get what you pay for. Their online
support is not very extensive either. So, if you
don't see needing any support, then you might
like EasyCGI.
